It’s been six months since the Santa Rosa Junior College football team’s season finale took place at Bailey Field, but Santa Rosa’s ‘22 team brought in a lot of awards during the offseason.
The most awarded player was team captain Dimitri Johnson, the lone All-American on the Bear Cubs roster. Johnson was also voted MVP of the team by his teammates and committed to the University of New Mexico to continue playing linebacker at the Division 1 level.
Johnson also shared the All-State title with fellow defensive player and team captain Gyasi Mattinson.
The Bear Cubs had eight All-Conference players for the Nor-Cal Conference listed below:
- Linebacker Dimitri Johnson
- Defensive Tackle Josh Kauvesi
- Linebacker Dillon Tingle
- Cornerback Gyasi Mattison
- Cornerback Yonatan Isack
- Offensive Linemen Jonah Miller
- Offensive Linemen Josh Lemley
- Wide Receiver Cody Davidson
Three Bear Cubs also made the All-State academic team, wide receiver Clint Washington with a 3.91 gpa, wide receiver Reese Bickert with a 3.75 gpa and linebacker Dillon Tingle with a 3.55 gpa.
The players also voted on their own team awards:

- MVP Offense – WR Isaac Torres
- Special Teams MVP – P Jeremy Baker
- Marv Mays Tough Man Award – LB Dillon Tingle
- Lineman of the year – OL Tom Izard
- Lineman of the year – DE Jack Brutus
- Offensive freshman of the year – WR Cody Davidson
- Defensive Freshman of the year – DL Max Gonzalez
- Defensive Red Shirt of the year – DB Demetrius Rawson
- Offensive Red Shirt of the year – QB Dominic Feliciano
Santa Rosa’s coaching staff also acknowledged players Jonah Miller, Gyasi Mattison, Shane Reilly and Yonatan Isack with Coaches Awards that acknowledge on and off the field contributions.

Five Bear Cubs have committed to continue their football careers elsewhere:
- Linebacker Dimitri Johnson committed to University of New Mexico
- Defensive tackle Josh Kauvesi committed to Robert Morris University, a Division I program in Pennsylvania
- Linebacker Dillon Tingle signed with Clarion University, a Division II school in Pennsylvania
- Defensive end Jack Brutus signed with Division II school Shepherd University in West Virginia
- Defensive end Shane Reilly committed to Midland University, a Division II school in Nebraska.
