With the fire finally contained in Santa Rosa the Bear Cubs returned to Haehl Pavilion to continue their excellent season grabbing all three sets over Modesto Community College on Nov. 3 to sweep them and improve their record to 14-8.
“This game allowed us to figure out what we still need to work on,” said middle blocker Katie Williams.
The games wasn’t easy for the Bear Cubs as they faced adversity early with their starting Setter out with a concussion and the referees late arrival caused the game to be pushed back.
“It felt good to be back at home,” said setter Peyton Jones.
The team was motivated to play at home and it helped them overcome the early adversity winning the first set from Modesto 26-24.
That was only the start for the Bear Cubs’ success as their front row stood out in set two where they won 25-10.
Head coach Kaitlin Ferguson mentioned in their practice she wanted to make sure the team “stay focused” and said it was a little hectic at practice due to the fire.
SRJC did not lose sight of victory and closed out Modesto winning the last set 25-18.
The Bear Cubs now have American River College in their sights for their Nov. 6 match at Haehl Pavilion.
