On a cold, windy, overcast day, the Santa Rosa Junior College men’s soccer team stepped onto to the damp turf to take on Folsom Lake College, resulting in a 7-0 shutout win Oct. 14.
Omar Nuno scored the first goal, with an assist from Andrew Carlile 12 minutes in, making it 1-0 SRJC.
The second goal came five minutes later when John Charleton scored with an assist from Angel Acevedo, putting the Bear Cubs up 2-0 at the end of the first half.
In the second half, the Bear Cubs dominated, scoring five goals. The first came in the 51st minute when Omar Nuno bombed a ball through the middle and into the net, adding another score to Nuno’s stats, his second of the day, making it 3-0 SRJC.
In the next 15 minutes Nuno scored two more scores, bumping the score to 5-0.
Then, Jovany Carlino, with an assist from Jared Robbins scored to make it 6-0 for the Bear Cubs.
Then in the 81st minute Edi Oros scored the final goal of the game with an assist from Clark Walker, putting the Bear Cubs up 7-0.
The Bear Cubs won 7-0.
“We played well especially with our two captains,” said head coach Martin Kinahan.
Also SRJC tied Las Positas College 1-1 Oct. 21.
The Bear Cubs improve their record to 7-3-4, with a conference record of 2-1.
The next challenge for the Bear Cubs is a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Oct. 24 against Consumnes River College in Sacramento.
