With the regular season winding down the Bear Cubs baseball team (23-10,11-8) are on a two-game skid after a 4-2 loss to Sierra College April 22.
On the first pitch, Matt LoCoco doubled for the Bear Cubs. Two pitches later, LoCoco scored after a Chase Stafford hit, making the early score 1-0.
Sierra College responded with three runs in the bottom of the second inning, making the score 3-1 Sierra.
Sierra College scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth when Kyle Lewis scored unearned, making the score 4-1.
The Bear Cubs scored one more run in the eighth when Stafford singled, bringing in Phil Ramos, making the score 4-2.
“We didn’t have enough consistent fight throughout the game,” LoCoco said.
Pitcher Kyle Mitchell went eight innings, giving up five hits, two errors and two strikeouts.
“We had two costly errors and did not get the timely hit,” said head coach Damon Neidlinger. “We swung the bat well and hit a lot of balls hard. Just not the hits you need to win.”
The Bear Cubs are now tied for fourth in the Big 8 conference.
The Bear Cubs face Sierra in their final regular season game at 2:30 p.m. on April 24.
