The Bear Cubs baseball team (23-9, 11-7) six-game win streak was snapped after a 4-2 lost against Modesto Junior College April 18.
With Dane Erbst on third after two MJC’s errors, Anthony Bender grounded a double play, allowing Erbst to score for the Bear Cubs, making the score 1-0 in the top of the second.
The Pirates responded back when Stefan Aguilar hit in Joe Pedlowe to tie the game at one apiece in the bottom of the second.
It was a stalemate until MJC scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Kaden Cline scored when Aaron Pangilinan singled, putting the Pirates up by one.
Patrick Mulry scored after Pedlowe singled.
Pangilian scored after Stefan Aguilar doubled, making the score 4-1 MJC.
The Bear Cubs had one more chance to tie the game in the top of the ninth.
Weston Bryan scored after a Parker Shaw hit, bringing the Bear Cubs within three; that was all SRJC could do as they fell, losing only its ninth game of the season.
“[We] did not swing the bats well enough to win,” said head coach Damon Neidlinger. “[They] had opportunities and did not get the timely hit.”

SRJC wraps up its regular season with a three-game series against Sierra College starting April 22.
