Continuing the homestretch of the season, the Santa Rosa Junior College wrestling team placed fourth overall in the Coast Conference Championship with 41 points on Saturday Nov. 23.
Team captain Aaron Pen-Kruger kept his impressive season going, placing second in his weight class of 133 pounds going 2-1. He pinned Fresno in the quarters, pinned Chabot in the semi-finals and lost to Skyline in the finals.
Isai Guzman placed second in his 184 pound class respectfully, going 2-2 for the day.
Freshman Robert Smith, 125 pounds placed fourth going 2-2 for the day.
Kaden Martin, placed fourth in the 165 pound class going 2-2 for the day. “I really lacked stamina in the last two matches. I felt drained of energy and didn’t wrestle to my top potential,” Martin said.
Jose Anaya also placed fourth in his 184 pound class, going 2-2 for the day.
Up next for the SRJC Bear Cubs is the NorCal Regional Saturday Dec.7, an important meet not just for the team as a whole but for the individual players, as the results will determine who goes to the State Championships Dec.13-14.
