The Santa Rosa Junior College Women’s Tennis lost their season opener on Jan. 12, 4-5 against Foothill College.
“It was a tough match,” said Assistant Coach Gienna Gonella, “We’ll get em next time!”
The “next time” will have to be in the playoffs, as Foothill College and SRJC are not in the same conference.
Notable wins came from Erin Levroni who defeated Mariya Guryeva 6-1, 6-1 and Laura Essayeh who defeated Kristen Yaw 7-5, 6-3.
The sixth game tilted the match to Foothill’s favor when Olivia Piazza was unable to compete against Termeh Behbahani due to an arm injury.
Olivia’s replacement, Kaitlin Ferguson, was unable to compete against Renske Koster due to a conflict with her school schedule.
The next home game is at 1 p.m. on Feb. 22 against Folsom Lake College, which is also their first conference game.
