Review
El Tarasco is a modest hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint in Sebastopol. Although small, the inside is painted with bright and welcoming designs. The customer service is chummy and neighborly and the food is on the better side of average.
El Tarasco’s website shows pictures of juicy BBQ chicken but trying to obtain the chicken as photographed is not possible, even if you specifically ask for it. Disappointing, but still good. The veggie burrito has no flare, no surprises to the palette yet it feels healthy to eat. It is full of zucchini, beans and rice. The shrimp quesadilla does not stand out either nor does the chicken tostada. The chili relleno though is quite good: juicy, flavorful and loaded with cheesy goodness. Finally, the fresh pineapple juice is heavenly and revitalizing.
El Tarasco is well prepared for take-out orders. A $50 order came boxed and full of all the necessary items: salsa, chips, napkins and utensils. The food is packaged in styrofoam containers and the pineapple juice is served in a compostable cup with a paper straw.
Overall, El Tarasco will leave your belly full and satisfied, and the prices are more than affordable. The restaurant provides your basic taqueria experience, perfect for those who don’t like surprises.
