SRJC’s men’s water polo continued its losing streak last week. The team lost 17-5 against Sierra College Sept. 25 and 29-4 to the Diablo Valley Vikings Oct. 2. The Bear Cubs record now stands at 0-11.
The Bear Cubs lost their starting goalie to injury. The team does continue to improve and learn, lead by captain C.J. Chappel. Not only is he team captain, his performances improved as well in the two meters. “We had a strong first quarter,” Chappel said when they faced Sierra College.
Sierra led after the first quarter 3-2. The final score was 17-5. “[The] team is rapidly improving,” said Coach Tyler Denzie.
Issac Maximov is one of the team’s rookies. “It’s been an exciting new experience, learning process; I’m excited for the future,” Maximov said.
The next game is a home game against Modesto Junior College at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 9.
