During an unusually hectic Easter production weekend, the Oak Leaf included a graphic on the front cover that the entire staff believes to be inappropriate. The graphic, a cartoon presented in connection to the rape story, misrepresents the facts of the case and trivializes a very sensitive and serious issue. The staff had agreed Saturday not to run it for these reasons. The graphic was intended for a different story that did not come together and the decision to use it in connection to the rape story was made on Sunday night after all but one editor had gone home.
We at The Oak Leaf regret this incident taking place and apologize for allowing it to happen. In the future we intend to use our collective discretion, especially when it comes to delicate issues such as this one. As always, letters to the editor are welcome and appreciated.
Sincerely,
The Oak Leaf Staff

Attended the Belva Davis event in Petaluma last month but didn’t read anything about it in the Oakleaf, just scratching my head why?
