The Santa Rosa Junior College Student Financial Services Department is kicking off a series of Financial Aid Awareness Month events on Feb.12 to help students navigate financial aid options while enjoying food, games and community resources.
The first of three events will be held at Plover Hall on the Santa Rosa Campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. alongside Student Club Day. Several organizations including the SRJC Foundation, Rising Scholars, Second Chance, the Transfer Center, Workforce Development and emotional support dogs from Purple Paws will attend.
With the March 2 FAFSA deadline approaching, these events aim to provide hands-on support with financial aid applications.
“We will have financial aid application support at every event, and we want to make sure students understand their options and take the time to complete their applications,” said Liz Perez, Coordinator of Student Financial Services at SRJC.
The department will host a second event on Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Student Engagement and Success Center on the Petaluma Campus and a third on Feb. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Pavillion on the Shone Farm Campus.
