Ushering students into Women’s History Month, the Santa Rosa Junior College Intercultural Center will present the short film “Misfits” followed by a conversation with its creator Ciani Rey Walker 11 a.m. to noon March 3 on Zoom.
Walker aims to create films that allow audiences to see the world through a new lens. “Misfits” is set on the night Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and follows two sisters fueled by revolutionary fervor. The sisters seek street justice with reluctant help from Black Panther Party leaders after their friend kidnaps a cop.
“Misfits” is a top contender for the National Festival for Talented Youth. Watch the 18-minute film and discussion on Zoom at this link.
