Hidden Valley Lake resident Morgan Lewis, 45, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter during a hearing at the Sonoma County Superior Courthouse on July 9 and agreed to serve four years for his role in the death of Hermilo Andrade, 55, in a case of mistaken identity during a parking lot brawl at Graton Casino in 2018.
According to Lewis’s attorney Steve Gallensen, Lewis agreed to the plea deal one week before the case was due to go to trial, and the Sonoma County District Attorney’s office dropped two additional charges — assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury and battery causing serious bodily injury — in exchange.
The fight occurred Sept. 16, 2018, when Lewis attacked Andrade after he fought another man that same night. He assumed Andrade was his earlier assailant. Lewis reportedly shoved Andrade, who struck his head on the concrete. Lewis was arrested after the fight but posted bail and was released. Andrade died three days later.
