Blood minus zero/No limit
SRJC District Police arrested a woman for violating her probation and driving under the influence on Mendocino Avenue around noon on Feb. 26.
An officer was parked on McConnell Avenue looking for vehicle code violations when he observed a red SUV drive through a crosswalk while a pedestrian was crossing.
The officer followed the subject and made a traffic stop.
The officer ran the subject’s information and discovered that the driver, Sarah Wiley, 44, was on probation for DUI and subject to alcohol screening at all times.
The officer submitted Wiley to a breathalyzer test and she blew a .027 BAC, well below the legal limit but still in violation as she was to have zero alcohol in her system under the terms of her probation.
The officer placed Wiley under arrest.
Laying down the lawn
SRJC District Police arrested a man for violation of probation and possession of a controlled substance on the north lawn of the SRJC campus in the afternoon on Feb. 19.
An officer received a call to check on the welfare of a person who appeared to be passed out on the north lawn around 2:15 p.m.
The officer made contact with the man and found him surrounded by trash and a baby stroller that appeared to be filled with trash.
The officer knew the man, Robert McIntosh, 28, from prior encounters and knew that he was on probation and subject to search and seizure.
The officer searched McIntosh’s person and found nothing, but a search of his stuff produced two needles, one filled with blood and some other substance.
Police arrested McIntosh and the substance, sent to the Department of Justice for testing, was found to be methamphetamine.
Scooping out justice
SRJC District Police arrested a woman for possession of a controlled substance, being under the influence of a controlled substance, DUI for drugs and driving with a suspended license on Steele Lane in the evening on Feb. 20.
An officer on routine patrol on Steele Lane ran the plates on a Nissan Pathfinder near the Highway 101 off ramp.
The registration came back as expired but the vehicle had current tags on display.
The officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle and observed the driver appear to throw something under the vehicle while pulling over.
The officer questioned the suspect, Shira Singerman, 35, about this and she appeared very nervous and said she didn’t know what he was talking about.
The officer had Singerman exit the vehicle and while exiting she grabbed an open can of Mt. Dew and then tried to go back inside the vehicle.
The officer would not let her back in the vehicle once she was out and after some disagreement asked Singerman if she had anything in the car. She admitted to having syringes in the car and two loaded ones in her purse.
The officer arrested Singerman and searched the vehicle and discovered 11 syringes total, a spoon with burn marks and a usable amount of heroin, marijuana, a small amount of cocaine and an ice cream scooper with burn marks.
