Students have a chance to study in Barcelona Spain in the Fall 2012 semester through the Santa Rosa Junior College Study Abroad Program (SAP). Every year students from SRJC travel all over the world to pursue their education in foreign countries through SRJC’s SAP There are currently students from the SRJC receiving college credit while studying in Florence, Italy.
“Barcelona is a unique city in which to live and study,” touts the SRJC SAP website. “In Barcelona, students see for themselves the taste, elegance and aesthetic sensibility that marked the Modern Age.” Barcelona’s location in South Western Europe allows participants the opportunity to travel easily in the Mediterranean, Western Europe and northern Africa while participating in the program.
The program is open to students who have completed 12 units of college course work, have a minimum 2.25 grade point average, are 18 years or older and have graduated from high school. The schedule of courses has not yet been finalized.
It will cost upwards of $7,000 depending on the participants living situation; however, that cost does not include the flight to and from Barcelona. There are scholarships available and information for those can be obtained by visiting the Study Abroad Program website at http://www.santarosa.edu/sa.
For those who are interested in this opportunity there will be multiple informational meetings held at both the Santa Rosa and Petaluma Campuses. The first meeting at the Petaluma Campus is from 1-2:00 p.m. Feb. 3 and the first meeting at the Santa Rosa Campus from 6-7:00 p.m. on Feb. 6.
