Santa Rosa Junior College might revise the class repeat policy, allowing students to retake classes in which he or she received a C for a better grade.
The Board of Trustees approved the first reading of the policy at the Nov. 9 meeting. If the policy is approved at the meeting on Dec. 14, the revisions will become effective for the spring 2011 semester.
Currently, any student can petition to retake a class, but if a better grade is received, it will not replace a C. The C remains on a student’s transcript and is counted in the overall GPA. The new policy would allow students to replace a C as long as three or more years passed since the student received the C or if the student had extenuating circumstances in the semester the course was completed.
