A red flag wind advisory is in effect from 11 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday. Winds are expected to be up to 15 to 25 mph with gusts potentially reaching up to 40 mph. The wind is projected to be a dry North-Northwest wind blowing to the South-Southeast.
The Tubbs, Nuns and Pocket fire are still active fires and Cal-Fire officials are warning people to stay on high alert as firefighters fight for containment.
“This is still a very dangerous event,” said Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner Robert Giordano. “Even if there is an advisory evacuation in your area, just get out.”
The missing person report has reached 1485 with 1250 reported safe and 235 still missing. There are 19 people confirmed dead in Sonoma County.
Dry, Gusty winds could increase fire behavior on current wildfire activity.
The Nuns fire presents a challenge in predicting its movement because of altitude and terrain which creates wind eddies.
