Several buses pulled into the E. Cotati entrance ready to haul students away as Sonoma State University shut down their dorms to all students 8 p.m. Wednesday.
“We made the decision to close campus most of our students have left and we’re going to relocate our students that are here,” said Stacy Heldman-Holguin, SSU interim associated vice president of student affairs. It’s just a precautionary measure because we’ll do better in a collective space than spread out. We’re not evacuating. We just made a decision to close down the campus.”
County transit officials say they Emergency Operating Center have sent buses to SSU every night just as a safety precaution but haven’t used them once.
As fires continue to threaten the south side of Santa Rosa and into Rohnert Park, SSU encourages all student to reach out to their families.
