Santa Rosa Junior College Theatre Arts will present “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” from Friday, Feb. 28, through Sunday, March 9, at the Burbank Auditorium Main Theater.
“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical written by Rachel Sheinkin, is full of humor and wit, showcasing six middle schoolers competing in a spelling bee.
“What’s different every night is that yes, the cast has six spellers that are actors in the show, but also every night four members of the public will come onstage and they are also part of the spelling bee. That’s one of the reasons it’s really fun!” said SRJC Theatre Arts director Reed Martin. “Spelling Bee is a very fun, very popular musical and it also suits the students.”
“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” will run at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 and March 1, 6-8, with 2 p.m. showings on March 2, 8 and 9. According to Martin the runtime is 2 hours and 15 minutes with a 15 minute intermission.
Tickets cost $25 for general audiences, $20 for students and seniors, and $15 for youth under 12. Tickets are available online or by calling (707) 527-4307. For more details visit the Box Office information page.
