SRJC’s dance program faculty will hold auditions for the Spring 2025 dance performance classes on Tuesday, Jan. 28 and Thursday, Jan. 30 at the Dance Studio located in room 640 in Analy Village.
Spring Dance Production Artistic Director Casandra Hillman and Co-Director Tanya Knippelmeir will begin their eighth season of spring dance performances with a week dedicated to holding auditions for their show.
“SRJC dance program auditions welcomes all styles of dancers, genre, performers of all ages, dance levels, training and backgrounds,” Knippelmeir said.
Hillman said she and Knippelmeir are looking for dancers familiar with Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, Cultural dance forms and Contemporary genres, Acrobats, Martial artists and performers of all ages with a love of artistic collaboration, community and dance. Dance experience is encouraged.
Rehearsals are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30-5 p.m. with flexible scheduling during that time frame based on availability.
Two audition opportunities will take place to accommodate different schedules and availability of the SRJC community and high school students. The first session will take place at 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, and the second session at 3:45-5:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30.
Students and community members interested in taking DANCE 27 or DANCE 28 must audition during these dates and times to secure a spot and take part in this show. Video auditions will not be accepted. Enrollment in these classes will require concurrent enrollment in THAR 11.8.
The show will take place May 9 and 10.
“Our show is called ‘Periodic Table of Dance’— each dance piece represents a different element of the periodic table or chemical compound,” Knippelmeir said.
An informational session held over Zoom will take place Thursday, Jan. 23 from 4-5 p.m. The link to the meeting and other information is located at the dance program’s auditions page.
