A fairytale will come to life this fall, although it is “Far Far Away” from Santa Rosa Junior College.
“Shrek the Musical,” an SRJC theater arts department production, opens Friday at the Maria Carrillo High School theater while Burbank Auditorium is undergoing renovations.
The play, based off the Dreamworks movie “Shrek,” follows the adventure of everyone’s favorite green ogre along with his witty sidekick, Donkey, in the land known as Far Far Away. The comedic duo go on a quest to save Princess Fiona from her lonely tower.
The play includes favorite fairytale characters from the film like Pinocchio, the Three Little Pigs and Gingy the gingerbread man. The play features popular songs such as “Bright Big Beautiful World” and “I’m a Believer.”
Directed by Laura Downing-Lee, the play opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16. Shrek runs at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17, 23, 24, 29, 30 and Dec. 1, and at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17, 18, 24, 25 and Dec. 1 and 2.
