Get ready to meet movie producers from around the world at this year’s annual Film Fest Petaluma.
Started under the guidance of the Petaluma Chamber of Commerce (PCC), the festival is back again for the fifth annual production at the Mystic Theater in Petaluma.
Film Fest director Michael Triana helped produce from the beginning, citing numerous changes over the years as it eventually transferred from the PCC to the current benefactor: Santa Rosa Junior College.
This change works wonders as most of these films are made and run by students and volunteers interested in film studies and careers in the field.
It’s a “unique opportunity to see these films and interact with their directors before they get big and famous,” Triana said, noting that some of these films have received nominations for Oscars and short film awards.
International artist Stephan Le Lay, from Paris, France, won awards like the Fieri International Film Festival’s “Best Screenplay,” directed six films, wrote six and worked as an editor of two and will be premiering new films in this show.
The festival will show 28 short films at 2:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. May 4 with about 10 films per interval.
Shows range from animation to documentary and live action to horror, and are not recommended for anyone under 15.
