With all movie franchises, there comes a time where enough sequels have been made and the story has run its course. For the “Paranormal Activity” series, that time is now.
This movie offers little in the way of a likeable story and even less in scares. The supernatural shenanigans have gone from the spine tingling, jaw droppers we’ve grown familiar with, to scares as frightening as childhood pranks.
The story takes a turn when the main character Alex gets a new member in his house. The family’s neighbor gets hospitalized, so Alex’s family offers to take in the son, Robbie, until she returns from the hospital. Robbie comes with more than just a suitcase: he brings his invisible friend. Upon his arrival a number of ghostly apparitions are seen, some odd phenomenons occur but over all nothing terrifying shows up.
The scene where a ghost is seen through Alex’s brother’s Xbox Kinect was a poor writing tool and ended in laughable dismay. The hidden camera premise has gotten old, no one has enough laptops to fit one in every room just to spy on the neighbor’s son. “Paranormal Activity” has come to its final production. It’s time to call it quits.
