The fourth annual Petaluma Film Fest on May 5 will feature a mix of international, award-winning short films and SRJC student short films in a variety of styles and genres.
The midnight shows will feature edgier programs. Filmmakers will discuss their films in question and answer sessions after each program.
The festival will show live action, animated dramas and comedies from countries including France, Canada, Australia, England and Spain. Films include the French Cesar winner for best live action short, “L’Accordeur,” and the Oscar winner for Best Animated short, “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore.” The top three films from SRJC’s Associated Students Film Festival in April will also be shown throughout the day.
“It’s the strongest program we’ve ever had.” says Michael Traina, festival director and SRJC film/media professor. “Each program features 8-10 short films and there’s a little something for everyone.”
The festival will be held at the Mystic Theater in downtown Petaluma. Shows are at 2:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and midnight. Tickets for the fest are available at McNear’s Restaurant, Copperfield’s Books in Petaluma or online through the Petaluma Film Alliance and Mystic Theatre websites. Tickets range from $10-$15. All-day passes are available for $25. Programs are recommended for 15 and over.
